Research the company before you go to the interview. Your BanyanBrown Consultant will give you information on the company and position, but take the initiative to learn as much as you can about the company on your own (e.g., explore their website).
After your research, you should get a good feel for the company culture. You will then be able to determine the appropriate clothing for the interview. We suggest wearing a full suit, unless otherwise noted.
Give yourself extra time to get to the interview. You don't want to arrive late and frantic.
Shake hands firmly, be enthusiastic, sit up straight, and maintain eye contact. Do not chew gum during the interview.
Participate in active listening. Make sure that you understand the questions that are being asked so that you can respond appropriately.
Almost all interviewers will ask if you have any questions. This is a great time to show that you have done your research. Come prepared with several questions.
Make sure that you let the interviewer know how much you appreciate her/him taking the time to meet with you.
Get a business card or contact information from the interviewer and follow up with an e-mail or phone call. Thank the interviewer for her/his time, express continuing interest in the position, and convey how your qualifications fit with the position.
